Venerable Solanus Casey

I continue to thank God ahead of time for you!

Less than a week after taking your intentions to his tomb, I was thrilled to hear that Pope Francis approved the beatification of our beloved Capuchin Father Solanus Casey. Soon he will be celebrated as Blessed Solanus!

As porter at the monastery door in Detroit, Fr. Solanus became known as "The Doorkeeper", greeting thousands of people from every age and walk of life. This simple Capuchin friar lived with a passion for the Gospel and great confidence in God's desire to answer every prayer. The global Capuchin family is delighted to learn that his case for sainthood continues to gain favor.

It was a humbling experience for me to travel to Detroit in April to spend some time in quiet prayer before the tomb of Fr. Solanus. His tomb is covered with slips of paper that contain the needs of people who turn to the intercession of Fr. Solanus with hope and confidence.

Thank you for entrusting your own intentions to me in my prayerful visit to this holy place. As promised, I placed your petitions on his tomb as I implored the intercession of Fr. Solanus in that hour and in the days since.

Fr. Solanus is an ideal model for those who seek to live simply, and with great faith! With conviction, Fr. Solanus often reminded the faithful to "thank God ahead of time". He believed that God answers every prayer in His way. I continue to "thank God ahead of time" for you and your commitment to all our mission work here at the Seraphic Mass Association.

Peace and Blessings,

                 Fr. John Pfannenstiel, OFM Cap.
