Our Pen Pals
In 1899, a dear Swiss Catholic by the name of Miss Frieda Folger dedicated her life to the service of the Capuchin-Franciscan foreign missions and established the Seraphic Mass Association (SMA).
Miss Folger conceived the idea of forming an Association whose members would donate alms for the upkeep of the missions. In return for their support, they would share in the Masses and prayers of the Capuchin Order. Members and promoters of the SMA, whom we call "Pen-Pals," are asked to support the missions with their prayers as well as with donations and enrollments in the SMA.

A Pen-Pal is not only a donor. Our Pen-Pals call and write to meet a variety of spiritual and personal needs. Whether scheduling a Mass, enrolling a loved one or writing to Father John for comforting advice, our Pen-Pals are in continual contact with us. Consider the following from a long time Pen-Pal.
The Seraphic Mass Association has afforded me great comfort over the years through all seasons & holidays, holy days & family events/needs. I will also tell you (since most usually it is not the good things that people report, but the problems) that every time I have called your organization, I have always been greeted by courteous & caring people & expeditious responses to my request. Additionally, I am constantly amazed that despite the volume of people whom you must deal with on a daily basis, that you always include a personal response to my requests or donations as part of your "canary messages". As far as I am concerned you have gone above and beyond with your service and personal caring; you are an exemplary conduit for God and the Christian way of life.
