Easter Novena Letter

Easter 2013

Dear Friend of the Missions,

Do you remember Lent when you were younger?

We were told to make sacrifices during Lent - even small ones - and somehow it made a difference, didn't it?  We learned that there really is something to be gained when we sacrifice.  Isn't that really the story of Easter?  A great sacrifice was made for us, and it gained life for our world.

I know you are a person who sees that Christ loves you with all His heart every time you look at the crucifix.

And even more, you and I believe with all our hearts that His victory over death - on Easter morning - is the promise and blessing of life with Him forever in Heaven.

As a friend of the Capuchin missions, you already understand that our missionaries make enormous sacrifices.  You have shared in those sacrifices by your prayers and support, and because of the sacrifices you and our missionaries have made, a beautiful story is unfolding in places like Papua New Guinea.

People in distant lands and right here at home are eager to hear the good news that God loves them completely and forever.

And so I invite you to once again join with our missionaries in their work of giving a word of hope and faith by participating in our Easter Novena.  Please share the wonderful graces of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass by including your family, friends, and intentions in these special 900 Masses offered by our missionary priests, beginning on Easter Sunday.   Click here to list the names of your loved ones and those prayer requests that you wish to be included in our Easter Novena and request additional Easter Novena Cards.

When you use our Easter Novena Cards, you are not only reaching out here at home, you are also reaching clear across the world to Papua New Guinea and our Capuchin missionaries.

The missionaries continue to make the sacrifice of their lives so that others can come to faith in Jesus Christ and be part of our wonderful Catholic Church.

And the harvest is plentiful in Papua New Guinea.  More and more people are being baptized; young men are being ordained; the number of Papua New Guinea Capuchin friars continues to grow; the Church is alive in a beautiful way.

May I ask you to consider making a generous offering so that our wonderful mission work can continue?  Your sacrifice will build on a strong foundation to ensure that even more people will come to know God's love.

As you and I pray and sacrifice during this holy season of Lent, we look with faith and hope to Easter.  We know that our Redeemer lives!

Please continue to walk with our Capuchin missionaries.  They have been sent forth in the Name of our Risen Savior to draw all people and nations to the Father through Jesus, His Risen Son.  You are by their side in their great work.

You are a treasured member of the Seraphic Mass Association and true friend of the Capuchin missionaries.  I thank God daily for you, your prayers, and your unfailing support.  You can be sure that all my brother friars and I lift you up in prayer every day.

May your sacrifices continue to bring faith and hope to people near and far.

Wishing you a Blessed, Happy and Holy Easter,

Fr. John Pfannenstiel, OFM Cap.
